Fleas

It can be a surprise to discover that your pet has fleas, but it is not at all uncommon... fleas are by far the commonest external parasite of the dog, and almost all dogs are affected at some time in their life, unless they receive regular treatment to control fleas.

Fleas rarely cause any serious harm, but they are unpleasant and a nuisance.

Fleas thrive in the warm and cosy environment of a centrally heated, double-glazed and carpeted house,  and there is no longer a flea season in summer, followed by a flea-free winter. It is nowadays recommended that flea treatment should be continued all year long.

For every flea you see on your cat or dog, there are hundreds more in your home, at various stages of development, hidden in the carpets, soft furnishings, pet bedding and even in your car.

FACT: 95% of fleas live in your home, not on your pet!

For the comfort of your pet and the wellbeing of all our customers, if we identify any fleas on your pet we will use an appropriate flea shampoo designed to kill flees immediately and aid in the prevention of their return for up to 7 days. This will incur a £2 surcharge.

WARNING: always use an appropriate flea-control product for your pet species and weight.
